In the mobile arena nowadays, Samsung is one of the most dominant brand there is. They have been producing excellent phones under their Galaxy line of phones for the past 7 years or so. As of 2018, the Galaxy series of phones are on their eighth iteration. The top tier Samsung Galaxy phones that are out now is the Galaxy S8 and S8+ and they have been out for a while now. Both of these phones are basically the same, S8+ just being a bit bigger and having a more powerful battery. Both the phones launched in April, 2017. Both these phones carry the same feel of quality that the predecessors had. They come with a great build quality and a classy look that is challenged by none.

These are the eighth generation versions like I said earlier and they hold the very high components that they should. We here will first talk about the S8 and then go on to S8+. The Samsung Galaxy S8 comes at 5.8 inch in length. It has a 1440 x 2960 pixels, 18.5:9 ratio Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that is completely bazel less. Samsung is calling this infinity display, which says that even if the phone is pretty big in length, it will feel small in your hands just because of the new display system that they have come up with. And to be honest, they are absolutely on the money. The phone is light and feels very accurate in the hand despite of it being a bigger phone than most of the other phones. The touch screen is very responsive and performs as you would expect from a flagship product.  It is also to be noted that the screen is Corning gorilla glass 5.

It also has the glass protection at the back of the phone as well. Like I mentioned before, the phone is super light because of its plastic build. It weighs only a 155g. Although I would have prefered a brushed metal body of some sort because you would expect an expensive phone like this to have that. But it is not that noticeable. The phone has an octa core 2.35 GHz  Snapdragon 835 processor that is massive and a 4 gigabytes of RAM for uninterrupted usage. The gpu is an Adreno 540 that is capable of supporting vulkan. S8 comes at 64GB storage inside and it is also expandable through microSD card slot. Now, let’s talk about the camera. The phone has a 12 megapixel back camera and 8 megapixel front facing camera that are one of the best features of the phone. The back camera is capable of recording 4K videos at 30 fps and supports HDR, which is  amazing considering this is a mobile device. In the back, there is an LED flash as well.

The photo quality of both back and front camera is supreme. Even the front camera is so good that when you take a selfie, the grain of dust in your dress could be identified by the photo. Now that is a sign of quality. In the question of sensors, the S8 has Iris scanner, fingerprint (rear-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer, heart rate and SpO2. The fingerprint scanner is the fastest that has ever been in a phone. A slight touch would unlock the phone in a blink. The phone sports a 3000 mAh battery  that is non removable. To charge the battery, there is a usb 3.1 port. The battery is more than capable of handling the phone for a long time in one charge. S8 also retains the 3.5 mm headphone jack that has been ditched by a good number of phone manufacturers these days. So it is a good thing that Samsung decided to keep it. In software side, the phone comes with Android 7.1 which is upgradable to version 8. It has a newer modified user interface that has been designed by Samsung.

Though it is not stock android, it is on per with it in performance. The Applications are optimized greatly to run with it and they do with so much ease. Now, for the S8+, all the specifications are the same except for the display and the battery. The S8+ has a 6.2 inch variant of the same glass that S8 has and a 3500 mAh battery. All the other specs are the same for S8+ with S8. Let’s talk about pricing of these phones. The S8 is now available on Amazon for 640 USD and the S8+ for 718 USD. Being two flagships of the Samsung Galaxy brand, these do not come in cheap and they do compensate the price with the performance that they show. Now, finally, it could be said that the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are the one of the best phone that money can buy right now and if money is no issue when it comes to performance, it is highly recommended.
